NableU MyManual

MyManual Introduction

MyManual is a core module in NableU that affords you the opportunity to help you understand yourself, and, if you choose, to help the system know you and match you to the right supports and services.

You know yourself better than anyone. Now put that knowledge to work.

Imagine a world where you didn't have to explain yourself from scratch every time you needed support.

Your needs. Your strengths. Your preferences. The things that energise you, overwhelm you, motivate you, and help you thrive.

Most systems collect information about you. MyManual helps you build knowledge for you.

It's your personal guide to how you work best, written in your own words, owned by you, and shared only when you choose.

Because understanding yourself should translate into greater agency over your life.

A user manual for being you

We all come with different ways of thinking, communicating, learning, working and navigating the world.

Yet we're constantly expected to adapt to systems and people who know very little about us.

For neurodivergent people, this can mean repeatedly explaining communication needs, sensory sensitivities, executive-function challenges, boundaries and support preferences.

And even when someone finally understands, that knowledge often disappears when the relationship or service changes.

MyManual changes the starting point.

Instead of expecting everyone to figure you out, you can give them the information they actually need to work effectively with you.

On your terms.

More than a profile. A living understanding of yourself.

MyManual brings together the practical knowledge that makes everyday life and support more effective.

Understand your own patterns

Build a personal self-map of your strengths, interests, motivations, energy, overwhelm triggers, early warning signals and recovery strategies.

Recognise what works, what doesn't, and what you might want to change.

Make communication easier

Explain how you prefer to communicate, process information, make decisions and receive support.

Whether that's written instructions, direct language, advance notice, processing time or avoiding unexpected phone calls, people can better understand what works for you.

Turn reflection into practical insight

Use private reflections to record experiences, identify recurring patterns and capture insights worth remembering.

Optional questionnaires and guided self-exploration can help organise your thinking without reducing your identity to a score or diagnosis.

Improve the support you receive

For participants, selected MyManual information can help communicate needs to support workers and support coordinators.

You can also choose relevant information to reuse when preparing support-job requests, reducing repetition and improving clarity.

Stay in control of your information

Your Manual starts private.

For participant sharing, you choose which information another person can see, preview what is shared, and change those choices.

Permission for AI-assisted matching is separate from permission to share with people. Selecting information for one purpose doesn't automatically authorise another.

What does this look like in real life?

Instead of repeatedly telling a new support worker:

"I don't like phone calls. I need to know what's happening in advance. When I'm overwhelmed, asking me lots of questions makes it harder to respond."

Your Manual can already explain:

Communication: Text first. Direct, unambiguous language.

Planning: Give advance notice of changes and clear expectations.

Overwhelm: Reduce competing demands and allow processing time.

Support: Offer practical choices without taking over decisions.

A few minutes spent documenting what works for you can prevent countless misunderstandings later.

And as your understanding of yourself develops, your Manual can develop with you.

Designed for neurodivergent minds. Useful for everyone.

MyManual recognises that people are individuals, not collections of diagnostic labels.

A diagnosis might describe a condition. It doesn't necessarily explain how someone prefers to communicate, what helps them feel safe, or what makes a working relationship successful.

MyManual gives those details a place to exist.

It's useful for anyone who wants to better understand themselves, communicate their preferences, reduce repetitive explanations or build more effective relationships.

You don't need a diagnosis to benefit from knowing how you work.

Your knowledge shouldn't disappear when circumstances change.

Support workers change. Services change. Relationships evolve. Life changes.

Too often, valuable personal knowledge is scattered across conversations, assessments, emails and documents that were never designed to work together.

MyManual gives you a consistent place to organise what you've learned about yourself, so you can carry that understanding into new situations.

Less starting over. Less guesswork. More continuity.

Your information. Your decisions. Your agency.

MyManual is built around a simple principle:

The person experiencing a life should have the greatest authority in describing how that life is experienced.

Nobody else gets to define your identity through a questionnaire, report or professional interpretation.

Those sources may offer useful insights, but they don't replace your own understanding.

MyManual helps you capture that understanding and make it useful.

It's a practical tool for self-knowledge, communication and support planning, not a diagnostic or treatment service.

The better people understand you, the better they can work with you.

You shouldn't have to repeat your life story just to get the support you need.

Give your knowledge a home. Build on it over time. Share what helps. Keep the rest private.

Your life. Your manual. Your choice.
